Welcome to The Sewing Room

At THE SEWING ROOM  we specialize in Apparel Sewing and Fashion. Our instructors have experience with garment fit, construction, design in both the fashion industry as well costuming.  We love to share our expertise with our students and believe that sewing is SUPER FUN! And it’s also a great skill that may save you money, challenge your brain and give you a terrific wardrobe.  Additionally, we find that students gain more CONFIDENCE, both with their sewing skills and also within themselves, once they start a regular sewing practice.  We believe it is essential for students to choose what they work on (within their skill level, of course).  This allows them to be CREATIVE and it also helps students stay invested in the project at hand. Whether you are interested in pattern making, designing apparel, sewing doll clothes or creating unique and useful things for the home, we are here to help you through the process. Come share our joy and passion for the needle arts!  Please check out our Weekday Schedule, Weekend Schedule and Sewing Camps Schedule pages, where you will see class descriptions and schedules for specific age range and suggested skill levels.

We LOVE sewing with interested students of ALL ages. Our Kid's Classes follow the same format as our Sewing Studio Classes for Teens and Adults.  Students of all skill levels and project diversity are welcome in these weekly classes, however some classes are geared towards specific levels of proficiency.  You can find all of our regular WEEKLY classes for Kids, Teens and Adults on our CLASSES page listed in chronological order.

THE SEWING ROOM also offers sewing camps, workshops, special events and even garment fitting clinics.  These can be found on our CAMP SCHEDULE and WORKSHOPS pages, also listed in chronological order.  Check it out and be sure to scroll down as we usually schedule at least 6 months ahead of time.

If you are NEW to sewing, a Machine Basics Class or one of our Weekly Studio Classes might be the best place to start.  Our instructors have been trained to guide you through the process of using a sewing machine (your own or one of ours)and reading a pattern.  A private lesson provides you with one-on-one hands on instruction, giving you the confidence to move forward. The next step would be weekly sewing classes or perhaps a workshop.

In our Classroom you will find everything you need to start sewing.  We have sewing machines for 10 students and several large cutting tables in addition to scissors, pins, measuring tapes and plenty of seam rippers.  The use of our machines and tools is included in the price of classes and camps at THE SEWING ROOM (we do charge a rental fee if we are bringing machines to a different location).

The SEWING ROOM stocks an assortment of Baby Lock SEWING MACHINES, PATTERNS, FABRIC and pre-assembled Fabric & Pattern KITS.  We can also special order PGM Professional Dress Forms.   Let's get YOU started today!  Email Jennifer@TheSewingRoomAlameda.com for more information.
