For those of you who don't already know, along with teaching sewing and fashion at The Sewing Room, I've designed a collection of Sewing Patterns. It is comprised of 3 hats, 4 dresses, 1 pair of shorts,  a blouse, a skirt, 2 tote bags, a vest, a set of aprons, a relaxation kit and 1 jacket  - Am I forgetting anything? Most (but not all) of our patterns are made for the "TWEEN" girl, and some are sized for adults as well. 

I really loved creating these patterns because they were all inspired by students and projects they wanted to make.  Keeping my students in mind is important when creating the patterns in this collection, so most of my designs are for modern young ladies with a Classic Style.  The patterns have been developed for the beginning and intermediate level sewer, so even kids can sew with them.

I named this pattern company -  Bonjour Teaspoon by Jennifer Serr. While on a couture tour in Paris, I met a very special little pug named Teaspoon. Teaspoon represents all things cute and fabulous to me and thus inspired the name of this enterprise. Now a little dog named Magic keeps me company in the studio, when I'm not making patterns or teaching kids how to sew.

I made this special version of the Mia Dress, to celebrate our newest pattern vendor, Stone Mountain and Daughter.  The dress was made using Cotton+Steel (with Rifle Paper Co.) fabric purchased from Stone Mountain and available in their store.  The bodice is a soft jersey knit and the skirt fabric is an ever-so-soft rayon challis. So pretty and easy to sew with.

While the Mia Dress looks complicated, it's actually rather simple - A knit bodice sewn on to a gathered skirt with ties attached to a waistband that is sandwiched in the waist seam. Using multiple fabrics you can create a unique look every time you make it.
