Garment Fitting Clinic w/ Jennifer Serr

Next Class TBA       Please email if you are interested

Garment Fitting Clinic with Jennifer Serr

Want help getting your garments to fit better?  In this 3-hour workshop, with Sewing Room Owner Jennifer Serr, students get help with personal fitting issues.  Bring your finished garments or muslin prototypes to class and Jennifer will personally assist with fitting and/or pattern corrections.  In some cases, you will be able to alter your garment and in others, you might need to correct the pattern before sewing up another garment.

Fitting your own clothing usually takes an extra set of eyes and hands.  This is a great opportunity to also learn from other's projects as well as your own.

Jennifer Serr has several decades of pattern fitting experience.  Find out more about Jennifer on our Instructors page.

Sew Powerful Purse Project 2017

 April 30th 2-5pm,      May 21st2-5pm

Sew Powerful Purse Project

Come on down to The Sewing Room to Support our #SewPowerful purse project!

You are invited to join us for a Purse Event on Sunday, April 30th from 2-5pm.  This is a cutting event.  We will be cutting out bags to sew in the future.   Adults and Teens only for this first event.  We will show you how to cut out the bags and label the pieces and will give you fabric to take home to cut out more.

Did you know Girls in Africa can miss up to 5 weeks of school because of their periods?  These bags will help KEEP THE GIRLS IN SCHOOL.  The bags we make (along with many others from around the world) will be given to girls in African villages along with re-usable sanitary supplies and training for how to use them.

This year we have a goal of donating 100 bags.  Please work with us to achieve our goal!

Additionally, The Sewing Room would love your Support in one of the following ways:

-Monetary Donations - Each bag costs about $5 to send to Africa and $5 to fill with sanitary supplies.  We are donating our time and fabric to this process but would love the financial support to help us acheive our goal.

-Light-Medium weight Cotton Fabrics - We have fabric to use, but could always use more.  Bright, colorful fabrics are the best!

-Already sewn bags - You can download the free sewing pattern at http://sewpowerful.org/ and make the bag at home.

-Spread the WORD - Share this event and this project on Social Media!!!  We need all the help we can get to provide a better life for these girls!

Price - Free!!! and you can earn COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS!!!
