Machine Basics - Ages 13+
September 23rd, October 21st, November 18th & December 16th 10am-Noon
In our Machine Basics Sewing Class you will learn:
- How to Thread Your Machine
- How To Thread a Bobbin
- How to Top thread and bobbin thread work together
- How to use the different stitches on your machine, including buttonholes (If you have them)
- How to adjust your machine tension; when and why you do it
- Which needles to use with which fabrics
Additionally, students will receive hand outs regarding machine trouble shooting and getting started with projects.
This class is perfect for those students who have purchased a machine from The Sewing Room, those who have never used a machine and for those wanting a refresher on how to use their own machine.
Fit and Sewing Clinics for Adults

This special class (Scheduled most months on the 2nd or 3rd Thursday) is ideal for intermediate and advanced sewists interested in learning garment construction, couture sewing techniques pattern making and/or Garment Fitting. In 2018 we will Alternate our Fit and Sewing Clinics with a New classes geared towards Working with Knits, Patterning T-shirts & Copying existing clothing. Find out more on our Workshops page.

Exploring Fashion Sewing camp for Adults & Teens
Students will spend the week escaping their day-to-day life, delving into the exciting world of Fashion and Sewing.
Over the course of the week, students will work on apparel projects as well as explore different aspects of the Sewing World - Textiles, Color, Garment Construction, Mood Boards and more!
Machines and tools are provided at THE SEWING ROOM, but students must must bring their own projects to camp.
Join us for a VIP day at Britex fabrics in SF and a special Lunch Together on Monday, Three all day sewing days and one full day learning about fashion inspiration.
